What is a green pin shackle? ›

The Green Pin^® Bow Shackle BN is a bow shackle with a safety bolt. The shackle offers a double safety (split pin and safety bolt) which prevents accidental unscrewing of the pin. Long-term durability is assured due to the galvanization of the Green Pin^® Bow Shackle BN.

Bow shackles are commonly employed in rigging systems where multiple ropes, slings, or chains need to be hooked up. Conversely, D shackles are frequently used in towing operations, industrial lifting, and anywhere a robust, single-direction force is the order of the day.

D-shackles are narrow shackles shaped like a loop of chain, usually with a pin or threaded pin closure. D-shackles are very common and most other shackle types are a variation of the D-shackle. The small loop can take high loads primarily in line. Side and racking loads may twist or bend a D-shackle.

Anchor Shackles / Bow Shackles

The terms anchor shackles and bow shackles are both used interchangeably and refer to a type of shackle with a larger, round “O” shaped bow. A larger bow shape allows these types of shackles to be side loaded or used in multiple sling-leg connections.
